Confidence“Confidence is key, for what would you do tomorrow if you knew that you wouldn’t fail?” Confidence is the ultimate key when doing orthotics as when you are totally confident in your ability to assess your patient’s mechanics and you are totally confident in your orthotics and you subsequently get consistently great results, you will do most definitely do large numbers of orthotics each month. When you are getting great consistent orthotic results, doing large numbers of orthotics on the order of twenty plus pairs each and every month is great for your patient base and it is great for your bottom line. Conversely, to the degree that you are not confident in your biomechanical assessment or your orthotic results, you become more and more a “cherry picker” and you severely limit your choice of patients you cast for orthotics until you are only doing a few pairs here and there. Confidence allows you to put anyone who will benefit from orthotics into them and confidence allows you to use literally dozens of orthotic indications that span the entire kinetic chain instead of using just a few select indications and diagnoses that ultimately leads to doing fewer and fewer orthotics as time goes on.
